Posted April 23, 2019 in Breast Implant Explantation

Many women who have undergone breast augmentation can eventually become unsatisfied with their current breast implants. Others, unfortunately, may develop postoperative complications that can affect their overall health and physical appearance. Fortunately, I perform en bloc capsulectomy, also known as breast implant explantation, to correct these issues to restore the breasts to produce a more aesthetically pleasing appearance.

What Is En Bloc Capsulectomy?

En bloc capsulectomy is a safe, surgical procedure that can address complications that have developed from a previous breast surgery by removing both the affected implant and scar tissue. During your procedure, the incision created for your breast augmentation will be reopened as the implants and capsules are carefully removed. Once the treated area has been thoroughly cleaned, you will have the decision to replace your breast implants or have them removed completely. Incisions will then be closed using surgical sutures, and you will achieve a more youthful and natural breast appearance.

Your En Bloc Capsulectomy Options

I perform several different en bloc capsulectomy techniques to address your concerns to help you achieve the results you desire.

En Bloc Only

The en bloc only technique will require the removal of the entire capsule and breast implants from the chest. Because this procedure only addresses the affected implants and scar tissue, this means your breasts will not be reconstructed, and your chest will be left to heal itself naturally. The amount of sagging and excess skin that will remain after your explantation will also determine your final results.

En Bloc and Breast Lift Surgery

En bloc that involves combining breast lift surgery will not only remove the implants and capsule, but it will also reshape the breast tissue and elevate the breasts to a higher position on the chest to produce a perkier-looking bust.

En Bloc and Fat Grafting

Patients who desire a more natural looking breasts can opt for en bloc with fat grafting. After the implants and scar tissue have been removed, I will harvest fat from the patient’s own body to reshape the breasts to the size and shape they desire. Because fat is collected from the buttocks, thighs, back, or midsection, this will also provide women with slimmer body contours.

En Bloc With Breast Lift and Fat Grafting

For the most satisfying results, many women choose to combine their en bloc procedure with both breast lift surgery and fat grafting to enhance their overall appearance and improve the size and shape of the bust.
