How Does a Breast Lift Work?
Breast lift techniques may vary based on the amount of sagging in the breast, but the most common procedure involves an incision around the areola and down the middle of the breast that follows the natural breast contour. This way the breast can be reshaped, the arola made smaller and the nipple placed higher. The incision start out slightly pinker or darker than the surrounding skin, but continues to fade over time. The breast lift will relocate the nipple and areola to a higher position, reposition the breast tissue to a higher level, remove any remaining excess skin from the breast and reshape all remaining skin. Closing of the remaining skin will help to reshape and lift the breast to the higher position.

The Procedure
A breast lift begins with anesthesia. Next, the chosen incisions are created. Excess skin is removed, and the tissues are reshaped. The areolae may be resized or repositioned. Finally, incisions are closed with sutures.
Breast Lift Aftercare
Following the breast lift, patients will be feeling tenderness and minor discomfort around the affected area. Swelling will occur, as well as some bruising. During the recovery period, patients are highly recommended to sleep on their backs. Any rigorous physical activities should be postponed for several weeks until the patient is fully healed.
