Procedure Options

Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation uses saline or silicone implants to restore fullness to the breasts while also improving the size and shape to produce a more balanced and feminine figure.

There are different breast augmentation incision techniques available. These include periareolar (around the areola), transaxillary (in the armpit), and inframammary (in the breast crease). Through the chosen incision, Dr. Reichner creates a tissue pocket and then inserts the implant. Incisions are then closed with stitches.

Dr. Reichner does not offer the transaxillary option when performing a breast augmentation because it has a higher degree of implant malposition.

Breast Lift

Pregnancy and breastfeeding can cause the breasts to develop loose, sagging skin, making them droop and look deflated. Breast lift surgery is a surgical procedure that removes excess skin and fat while lifting the breasts to a more youthful position. This procedure can also be performed alongside breast augmentation.

Just like with breast augmentation, many breast lift incision techniques can be performed. These include donut (two circles around the areola), lollipop (a circle around the areola and a vertical line down to the crease), and inverted-T (a lollipop incision with a curving line across the length of the crease). After the breasts are reshaped, the incisions are sealed using dissolvable stitches.

Tummy Tuck Surgery

Tummy tuck surgery, also known as abdominoplasty, can repair a weak and protruding stomach caused by pregnancy and weight fluctuations. This procedure tightens and rejoins the abdominal muscles while also removing excess skin and fat to restore definition and contour the tummy.

The incision for this technique is made low across the abdomen from hipbone to hipbone and is curved so as to be hidden under the bikini line. A second incision may be made around the bellybutton to provide greater access. After the tissues are tightened and the abdomen is contoured, these incisions are closed with dissolvable sutures.

Liposuction

After pregnancy and childbirth, many women may begin to notice stubborn fat deposits that are very difficult to target even with a strict diet and exercise. Liposuction is a surgical procedure that removes excess fat from the arms, back, abdomen, hips, and thighs to help boost a woman’s self-esteem and can be combined with tummy tuck surgery to eliminate stubborn fat.

During liposuction, Dr. Reichner makes a small incision in the treatment area. A thin hollow tube called a cannula is inserted and used to loosen stubborn fat from the surrounding tissues. The fat is suctioned out of the body using vacuum pressure.

Your Consultation

In order to get the best results from their Mommy Makeover package, patients will first need to schedule a consultation. This will allow patients to communicate their needs and goals to Dr. Reichner. Dr. Reichner will perform a physical examination and discuss the procedures that can be included in the package.

Dr. Reichner will ask questions about the health of the patient and their medical history. This can include a discussion of all previous surgeries, any allergies, current medications and supplements, and any pre-existing medical conditions.

Patients will be encouraged to ask their own questions and voice concerns. Once the patient fully understands all the details of the process, including recovery and preparation, a date will be set for the surgery.

  • Following your Mommy Makeover surgery, patients will need someone to drive them home and will require assistance for 24 to 48 hours. Swelling and bruising will occur but should resolve within a few weeks. Most patients will feel comfortable resuming their normal activities after two weeks. Make sure to avoid all strenuous activities and exercises for at least six weeks.
  • Dr. Reichner will provide you with detailed instructions for the healing process. Following these as closely as possible during the recovery period is vital and will help to avoid prolonged downtime.
  • Depending on the number of procedures you have undergone, some scarring may be present. Incisions are made in inconspicuous locations and can be hidden underneath clothing as the scars continue to fade over time.
  • Although some discomfort is expected after your procedure, this can be controlled with pain medication that will be prescribed to you by Dr. Reichner.

Am I a candidate for Mommy Makeover surgery?

Ideal candidates for Mommy Makeover surgery should be in good overall health and have realistic expectations. Patients must also be close to their ideal weight and stop smoking for at least three weeks before and after their surgery. The negative effects of smoking on the tissues can result in a prolonged recovery process and post-surgical complications.

If the patient is still recovering from a recent accident or surgical procedure, they will need to heal completely before undergoing a Mommy Makeover. Expecting mothers are also not candidates for these procedures.
